CRICKET: GORDON Whitehead was as proud as punch after being honoured at the Lancashire Cricket Board’s Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards dinner.
The 65 year-old was presented with the “Building Partnerships” gong in front of a packed house at The Point, Old Trafford.
“I was nominated last year, so to be nominated again was a complete surprise,” said Gordon, who is junior secretary at Glodwick CC
“When my name was called out I couldn’t quite believe it. It is a great honour.”
Gordon promotes cricket in the area as chairman of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s junior section. He works closely with the Oldham Cricket Development Group and at Christ Church and Alt primary schools.
The awards acclaim those who help to promote cricket in Lancashire at grass roots level.
