Rangers coach looking for lift-off

RUGBY: SADDLEWORTH Rangers coach Shane Tupaea says victory over one of the “big scalps” could fire his side’s push away from the National Conference League Division One trapdoor.
Tomorrow’s visit of fourth-placed Hunslet Warriors (2.30pm) provides another major test for the Shaw Hall Bank Road club as they strive to avoid relegation.
Tupaea, who replaced Emmerson Jackman last month, insists second-bottom Rangers are heading in the right direction as he imposes his own ideas on the squad.
“It would be nice to take one of the big scalps,” said the former Oldham RL player, who is hoping to have Marlon Miller and Chris Conway in contention following last weekend’s 46-8 defeat at leaders Wigan St Jude’s.
“Such a result would do us a world of good and set us up nicely for the rest of the season.
WATERHEAD and Oldham St Anne’s have a break from NCL action this weekend.
