ONLY one team – Micklehurst – was able to book a place in the semi-finals of the Versasteel Saddleworth and District League’s Twenty20 competition yesterday.
The summer showers wiped out most of the play in the quarter-final matches, but Micklehurst, chasing visiting Friarmere’s 142 for six, were awarded victory on a faster scoring rate after they had reached 63 for two from their opening five overs.
Trophy holders Heyside – fresh from their record-breaking league innings against Micklehurst on Saturday – must replay their home fixture against Greenfield.
They got under way at Little Hey Street yesterday and Greenfield reached 165 for seven after 19 overs, but no further play took place and a date for a rescheduled game is yet to be agreed.
There was no play at all between Hollinwood and Droylsden. Those two will try again at Lime Lane on Friday night.
Similarly, the game between Shaw and Moorside was a total washout, with those two set to try again on Friday week.
