RAMPANT Heyside established a Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League record on Saturday as they piled on the runs against Micklehurst.

After three straight defeats had seen them toppled from the First Division summit, Heyside took first knock and registered a mammoth 473 for four wickets – a new league record innings.

Club Pro Gerrie Snyman led the way in emphatic style with 223 not out. Nick Campbell struck 125 and Ryan Barnes chipped in with 65 on a glorious day for Heyside.

In Micklehurst’s reply, Scott Bloor went on to take six wickets for 37 as the visitors could only reach 216 all out.

Stunned reigning league champions Bamford Fieldhouse shrugged off their midweek traumas as they stormed to another victory.

Despite being dropped from the league at the end of the season, the champions stormed to a seven-wicket victory. Craig Smith scored 46 as Stayley laboured to 151 all out, while in reply Grant Hodnett hit a breezy 98 not as the current league leaders comfortably reached 154 for three.

Elsewhere, visitors Friarmere prevailed by 25 runs against Austerlands, while Rehan Rafiq was in terrific form for Glodwick as he struck 85 not out in a routine eight-wicket victory against Hollinwood.

Replying to Hollinwood’s 191 for nine, the hosts quickly got through to 192 for two to maintain their second place in the table.

Rick Harrington scored 88 for Shaw as they reached 244 for nine at Greenfield, but Jack Shaw was the star for the hosts as he struck a fine 121 in his team’s reply of 246 for five.

Fourth-placed Saddleworth cruised to a nine-wicket victory at home against Moorside.

Uppermill beat Droylsden by 65 runs.
