BAMFORD Fieldhouse are in serious danger of packing up if they can’t quickly find a new league in which to compete.
So says Bamford chairman Andy Barton following the league’s 10-4 margin to expel the reigning Saddleworth league champions at the end of the season.
It is believed the Hollin Lane outfit has been in contact with other leagues but, with many constitutions already agreed, the clock is ticking for 2014.
The situation has left Barton fearing the worst.
He said: “Clubs usually give 12 months notice if they leave to join another league. We didn’t have that courtesy and unless we can find somewhere, there could be no cricket at Bamford next year.
“It is a disgrace what has happened and the players are fuming.”
The league’s executive committee called the special meeting for Bamford’s claimed “continued flouting” of the rules.
The club asked for a stay of execution until the end of 2014 to give more time to find a new league, which was refused.
Bamford are still seeking possible legal solutions to their plight.
RAIN washed out Bamford’s LCB Cup quarter-final tie at Prestwich. The match has been rearranged for Sunday, with the Lancashire County League side again the hosts (1pm).
