ANGLING:

THE latest Diggle AS Tuesday evening match was fished on a cracking Tanner’s Dam and it provided a new name on the winners’ list - Carl Henry

Carl’s 37lb 9oz of skimmers and carp was a few fish too many for Steve Hall as he netted himself second with 30lb 15oz.

That was just ounces ahead of match organiser Dave Machin (Fibrecare) who tipped 30lb 10oz on to the scales in a contest that saw a lowest weight of 22lbs.

SATURDAY’S Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake saw Billy Brierley in top spot with his peg 30 draw providing him with a few fish which he plundered to the tune of 22lb 4oz, netting himself all silvers on long pole and maggot.

Conrad Taylor was next off peg 28, where fishing pellet, he caught 16lb 5oz, beating Steve Clegg (Saints) with an all-maggot tempted 16lb 2oz of perch, roach, skimmers and chub taken on peg 24.

Monday’s Medlock Bridge AC match saw Conrad Taylor – on flyer peg 23 – and his pellet approach work a treat as he caught 27lb of mostly skimmers.

SIMON Castle topped the weights in the latest SADAS members-only match fished on Eagle Mill Dam with caster, pellet and sloppy groundbait attracting a mainly bream catch that included fish to 5lb and a total weight of 23lb 2oz.

Brian Murphy was second with 17lb 8oz of bream, orfe and two tench that fell to caster and pellet.

THE Socials AC charity match in aid of Dr Kershaw’s was fished on an out-of-form Dunlop AC water where the real winner was the hospice, for which £100 was raised.

Top angler was Chris Woodrup with an all-carp 25lb 4oz net that was well in front of everyone else, and could have been even more dominant had he not lost seven other carp.

TODMORDEN AS fished their latest Tuesday evening match on Croft and it was a tight affair as less than 2lb separated the top four.

Winner was Craig Howarth with 27lb 3oz of carp, beating Chris Lett into second with 26lb 10oz.
