Non-league football:
CHADDERTON are back in action tomorrow when they face a tough test at Nelson in their second game of the new North-West Counties League First Division season.
Now under the joint-managership of Steve Patterson and Mark Cook, Chadderton opened with a
satisfactory 2-2 draw at new club Hanley Town last weekend.
Cook said: “We were pleased with a point last Saturday, I guess. Hanley were a tough, physical side and it was a real battle.
“Nelson looks like it might be a different game altogether, though. They like to get it down and play, and that might suit our style better. We’re a real threat going forward, and Matty Russell and young Niall Sultan (who both scored at Hanley) have been on fire since pre-season. We’ll be confident.”
Chadderton’s only two definite absentees for tomorrow’s trip are centre-back John Rodgers and midfielder Dave Quinn.
OLDHAM Boro host Leek CSOB tomorrow at their Alder Street, Atherton base.
So far they have only one point from a possible six. Leek haven’t had a great start to the season either: they were thumped 4-0 at home by Nelson last Saturday.
MOSSLEY are in friendly action again as their Evo-Stik Division One North campaign doesn’t begin until
tomorrow week when Kendal visit Seel Park.
Tomorrow the Lilywhites host Chorley in a match which will see the swift return of last season’s star utility man Adam Mather, who left to join Garry Flitcroft’s big-spending club in May.
All the above games kick-off at 3pm.
