STEVE Taylor was named man-of-the-match as Saddleworth beat Friarmere to lift the Moore Cup at Well-i-Hole.
The all-rounder claimed five for 24 in the visitors’ total of 165 all out and then hit 70 to help his side to a five-wicket triumph with 15 overs to spare.
Friarmere were indebted to a ninth-wicket stand of 66 between Waseem Intiaz (58) and skipper Rizwan Khan after they were reduced to 76 for eight. The last pair, Intiaz and Zak Arshad, also added vital runs.
Saddleworth were 46 for two in reply, but Ben Corbett (25) and Taylor put on 106 for the third wicket to put them in sight of victory in the final of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s second XI knock-out competition.
