OLDHAM Boro grabbed their first victory of the new North-West Counties League First Division campaign on Saturday.
Tony Mills’ side beat Leek CSOB 2-1 at their Alder Street, Atherton, base.
Lee Knowles opened the scoring in the 11th minute, though Tim Barrass struck back to level for the Old Boys within 60 seconds.
The winner – Boro’s 900th home league goal – was scored by Matty Knowles just before the hour mark to make it a haul of four points from their opening three fixtures.
CHADDERTON grabbed their second away 2-2 draw from two games after they came back to earn a share of the spoils at Nelson.
Matty Russell fired Chadderton ahead on the half-hour mark, only for Josh Barrick to make it 1-1 two minutes later.
Liam Boswell then fired Nelson in front shortly after the interval, but Russell was on hand to rescue a deserved point for the visitors when he slotted home a penalty-kick in the 67th minute.
Chadderton play their first home league game tomorrow night against Cheadle Town (7.45pm kick-off).
MOSSLEY, who don’t get their Evo-Stik Division One North campaign under way until Saturday, drew 0-0 at home to Chorley in their final pre-season friendly fixture. The Lilywhites have re-signed striker Danny Broadbent from Hyde FC.
