Angling: JOE Rowan made the most of being drawn on the favoured peg eight as he triumphed at Saturday’s Medlock Bridge AC open match on the park lake.
Rowan concentrated on maggot at 14 metres as he caught 28lb 3oz of skimmers and chub.
Mick Tighe drew up at the little bridge on peg 16 where he caught some small f1s before adding chub, skimmers and three tench to 3lb.
Monday night’s Medlock Bridge AC match on the park lake saw Paul Cunliffe – on peg 18 – the winner of a tight match with caster and pellet fished at 13 metres netting him 13lb 4oz of skimmers, roach and chub. Bob Harrison took second place off peg 24a with 12lb 6oz.
SUNDAY’S Todmorden AS match was fished on the superb Townhouse and yet again Steve Hall took the main money for plenty of carp and silvers weighing-in in 39lb 4oz.
John Mellor netted second place with his pellet waggler approach fished right up in the water for 30lb 2oz of carp.
Tuesday’s Todmorden AS match fished on Townhouse saw Mottram move up two places to pole position with his peg five producing a winning 24lb.
Graham Mallinson was next with 15lb 6oz off peg 11, followed by Frank Szakaley in third with a pole-tempted 9lb 13oz.
IN Tuesday’s Diggle AS matches fished on Tanner’s Dam, Steve Hall has been unbeatable - and he carried that on in the latest, netting two big carp – the biggest 15lb – and some silvers taken on his usual chopped worm and caster which weighed in at 41lb 11oz.
That was too much for match organiser Dave Machin (Fibrecare), who caught seven carp and some silvers for 27lb 6oz.
The fish have started spreading out a bit and some good numbers are being caught in the deeper water pegs.
THE TRI-CAST Highfield squad are always in the money and this is despite varying their fishing with numerous pick-ups at a variety of venues.
In Saturday’s Old Hough Farm open match fished on Lucky Dip and Prospect Lakes, they again made the frame. Winner was Darren Mulheir with 87lb 2oz of mostly barbell taken on corn fished tight across to the far bank.
Steve Butler filled second with 40lb 1oz, followed by the consistent Dave Holland with his end peg coming up trumps with 37lb 9oz of carp taken on paste.
Sunday’s match on the same venue saw weights drop a bit, but winner Ken Potts still needed 51lb 1oz to win.
