FOOTBALL; ROYTON Town entertain Avro in a local derby at the Oldham Academy North, Broadway as the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division season gets underway tomorrow.
Having avoided relegation last season, new manager Mark Howard will be keen to see his revamped side challenge at the other end of the table.
Springhead begin their campaign at home where Dukinfield Town are the visitors to Ashfield Crescent.
Springhead manager Lee McAllister is hoping his side can get off to a good start, something they have failed to do in recent seasons.
McAllister said: “I really think we could be pushing for the title, but we need to start well. In the past few years we have done well in the various cup competitions, but our poor form early-season has killed us.”
Uppermill’s debut season in the Manchester League gets under way on August 24 when they travel to play Leigh Athletic in a First Division fixture.
On the same day, Hollinwood play host to Heywood St James at Chapel Road (3pm).
