Title lifeline for Tonge

BOWLS: TONGE revived their fading Manchester Premier League title hopes with a stunning 16-0 (210-136) at the King and Queen, Warrington.

All 10 of the Tonge players won their games — Jimmy Derby (21-15), Matt Gillies (21-19), Nicky Brooks (21-15), Gary Ellis (21-13), Gary Smith (21-18), Colin Lane (21-9), Darren Griffiths (21-3), Graham Hickey (21-12), Thomas Dobson (21-17) and Steve Squire (21-15).

Although Tonge still have much to do to catch title favourites St Joseph’s, this latest win gives them an outside chance.

They will bid to follow it up next Wednesday when they entertain the Nursery Inn, Stockport.
