CRICKET: GLODWICK have top spot in their sights in the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League — but have a massive hurdle to overcome to get there.
Nigel Stock’s side, in second place, welcome leaders Bamford Fieldhouse to Warren Lane tomorrow (1pm).
Victory for Glodwick — looking to do the double after beating a weakened Bamford side earlier in the season — would put the title race in the melting pot with only a handful of matches left.
Third and fourth also meet this weekend, with Heyside going head to head with Saddleworth.
Six days after they lost to Uppermill in the Tanner Cup final replay, fifth-placed Moorside have an immediate chance of revenge.
Leefields is again the venue, and with Greenfield breathing down their necks it is important Lloyd Kingston’s men hit back as they look to cement an LCB Cup qualifying spot.
MICKLEHURST CC is the venue for Twenty20 Cup finals day on Monday.
The hosts are in action in the first semi-final against holders Heyside at 10.30am.
Following on at 1.30pm is the other last-four tie between Droylsden and Moorside. The final is at 4.30pm.
Heyside won the knock-out competition in May, also at Micklehurst’s Castle Lane ground, after it was held over from last year because of rain.
