Warburton treble hits Mossley

FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY were undone by a hat-trick from Matt Warburton as Tameside neighbours Curzon Ashton won 3-2 at Seel Park yesterday afternoon.
In front of a bumper bank holiday crowd, the Lilywhites found themselves behind at the break to Warburton’s first strike of the day.
Sam Madeley – with his second goal in as many games – equalised just before the hour mark for Mossley, but within a minute Warburton pounced again to restore Curzon’s lead.
Warburton then completed his clinical treble to make it 3-1 to the visitors midway through the second half.
Kevin McGrath’s second goal in as many games for Mossley gave the hosts hope with 10 minutes still to play, but they couldn’t find that elusive equaliser.
Mossley are still seeking their first league victory of the season after four attempts so far.
Their attention switches to the FA Cup on Saturday, though, when they host Worksop Parramore.
OLDHAM Boro are in North-West Counties League First Division action tonight.
Tony Mills’ stuttering side head to third-placed Daisy Hill for a tricky test. The game kicks-off at 7.45pm.
