Athletics: SPRINTER Danielle Parrott once again proved too hot to handle at the recent Oldham Schools’ Athletics Championships.

The North Chadderton pupil took a fourth successive win in the 100m final with a fine display, with this latest triumph, leaving her unbeaten in the event throughout her Oldham Schools’ Championship career.

Her gold medal haul in the individual sprints added to team medals in the 4x100m relay where she won in Year Seven, Eight, Nine and 10 age groups.

Year 10 was to prove a particularly successful year for Danielle as she also achieved gold in the long jump.

This year’s Oldham Schools’ victory followed a stand-out performance in the Greater Manchester Schools’ Championships at Trafford last month, where Danielle claimed bronze in the 300m and went on to represent her county at the Mason Trophy Inter-Counties event at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Danielle trains and competes for East Cheshire Harriers and Tameside AC under the watchful eyes of Wendy Andrews and Jack Dobson.

She is enjoying an excellent season as an integral part of their Youth Development League and Cheshire League squads and she also made her debut in the Northern Senior League this week.

Danielle is a sporting all-rounder and has also been part of the school’s successful under-16s netball squad coached by Jayne Roberts that became Greater Manchester champions and National semi-finalists in 2013.
