FAILSWORTH’S Katie Zelem will have glory within her grasp when she lines up for England in the under-19s European Championship final tomorrow.
The 17-year-old Blue Coat School pupil will be part of the team to face France in the showdown in Llandudno, which will be shown live on British Eurosport (3pm kick-off).
Zelem, who plays for Manchester United, has already faced the French in the tournament finals.
That opening group game finished goalless, before Wales and then Denmark were both beaten 3-0 by England. In the fixture against the Danes, Zelem scored the last of England’s goals — a crucial strike which helped the team top the group ahead of France.
In reaching the semi-finals, England also qualified for the World Cup in Canada in April.
England won their last-four tie 4-0 against Finland to make it into the showpiece occasion.
