CLL cricket round-up
OLDHAM have endured a torrid last few weeks, but yesterday the CLL Championship’s bottom side showed they do have what it takes to win cricket matches.
The Pollards club boasted two outstanding performers in their one-wicket win at Radcliffe.
First, captain’s son Humza Hussain took nine for 78 as Radcliffe were bowled out for 233 despite Anis Patel’s excellent 108.
Then Rauf Qayyum made a super, unbeaten 106 to see Oldham over the finishing line.
It was business as usual or the top two sides, Royton and Werneth.
Royton, for whom Lancashire star Luke Procter was stand-in pro, saw off Ashton by 74 runs at the Paddock.
Werneth professional Mohammed Zaman Khan was at his belligerent best in his side’s 71-run win at Monton and Weaste.
Khan hit an unbeaten 155 in his side’s 269 for four, Ali Muzaffer supplying support with 38.
