Beech finds best finish

ASHLEY Beech produced his best finish so far this season in an incident-packed round nine of the National Superstock 1000 Championship at Cadwell Park.

The 25-year-old Moorside ace crossed the line in eighth place, before he was promoted to seventh after a fellow rider was disqualified.

Beech (25), riding Team JD Racing’s Kawasaki ZX-10R, was just 0.8 of a second off the pole position time after a superb qualifying session on the 2.2 mile Lincolnshire circuit, where speeds can get up to 170mph.

The only unplanned episode was when Beech took off over the Mountain section of the track and the bike landed awkwardly.

“I remember thinking I should have landed by now,” said Beech, who added: “The bike is handling so much better.

“Instead of just hanging on to such a powerful machine I feel more in control and confident in pushing the bike closer to its limits.”

As the flag dropped, Beech was immediately involved in a fierce battle with the front runners, passing several riders.

On lap 10 of 15, one rider fell heavily and required medical attention so the red flag signalled the end of the race.

Because over two-thirds race distance had been achieved, a result was declared and Beech was accredited eighth place.

Yet the drama did not end there, as Evesham rider Simon Andrews was disqualified by officials for what was deemed an “unfair manoeuvre” on a fellow competitor, which then promoted Beech up the order.
