NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: A BIZARRE game at Radcliffe Borough's Stainton Park on Saturday saw Mossley finish with only nine men - and come agonisingly close to a precious first win of the season.

An own goal from Mossley sub Dougie Carroll five minutes into stoppage time handed Borough a 3-3 draw after a frantic final half-hour.

A relatively incident-free first half saw the only goal come from Borough's Caldon Henson.

When Danny White made it 2-0 with a 30-yard screamer in the 64th minute, the Lilywhites looked dead and buried against a side who had lost all four league games ahead of the weekend fixture.

Matters got worse when third and final substitute Carroll replaced the injured Sam Madeley and then Lewis Nightingale was forced to limp off.

Mossley's Kyle McGonigle and Borough's Josh Bardsley were then sent-off following a fracas, meaning the visitors were down to nine.

But the final 13 minutes saw Mossley score three goals, meaning an unbelievable victory was now on the cards, deep into stoppage time.

That is when Carroll headed Danny Lambert's cross into his own net to leave the Lilywhites' joint-managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison with plenty of selection headaches as they prepare for tomorrow night's home league clash against Clitheroe (7.45pm kick-off).

CHADDERTON made it four North-West Counties League First Division wins in their last five games as they returned from Staffordshire-based Eccleshall with a superb 3-1 success.
Macauley Harewood, Clive Best and Matty Russell scored the visitors' goals in the first half, with Eccleshall's sole reply coming from Alex McMillan in the last minute.

OLDHAM BORO came from behind to win their FA Carlsberg Vase first qualifying round clash 2-1 at home against 1874 Northwich.
On target were Matty Knowles, and then Nathan Adams in the last minute of extra-time.

Boro are back in league action tonight when they travel to Atherton Collieries (7.45pm kick-off).
