NETBALL:
FOUR Oldham enthusiasts have created Netball in the Community – a new project designed to get all ages hooked on the game.
Debbie Chapman has worked in netball development for a decade and has been instrumental in setting up community netball clubs in the area, while Rachel Henry is a Superleague player for Manchester Thunder. She has coached the Thunder Academy at Oldham Netball Club since completing a degree in coach education and sport development.
Suzy Chapman is a highly-qualified coach and tutor and was part of the Thunder coaching team that won the Netball Superleague in 2012. Debbie Hallas brings commercial experience as managing director of Netball UK and Manchester Thunder, plus 25 years worth of involvement with Oldham Netball Club.
The locally-based initiative offers netball provision for people aged five-plus, including ‘back to netball’ sessions for women.
Some of the projects aim to get youngsters hooked on netball and offer excellent exit routes to clubs of various standards.
