GOLF: VICKY Akin has bagged a glorious treble at Brookdale.
After winning the Mr Captain’s and Lady Captain’s competitions, she trained her sights on the President’s prize.
And, thanks to a round of 83-16-67, Akin completed the hat-trick.
The runner-up was Wendy Olivier with a score of 93-23-70.
There was a photo finish to the Joan Hirst Charity Cup at Saddleworth Golf Club.
And though the weather was miserable, it failed to dampen spirits as all five clubs in the borough were represented.
Victory went to Julie Connolly, of Oldham, and Saddleworth’s Linda Newman and Jean Dervan with 72 points.
They won on a card play-off from Saddleworth trio Sandra Hague, Barbara Shuttleworth and Jean Barnes.
In third place on 69 points were Oldham’s lady president Sheila Antrobus, lady captain Jane Antrobus and Bev Scholes.
Marie Middleton, chairman of the Oldham Ladies Golf Association, was on hand to present the prizes.
The event raised £500 for this year’s chosen charity, the Saddleworth Special Needs Playgroup.
In an 18-hole stroke competition at BLACKLEY, Margery Cox emerged victorious with a nett round of 68, from runner-up Barbara Roberts, who scored 69, and Sue Oldham (70).
