Saul’s horror injury

FOOTBALL: HOLLINWOOD’S FBT Manchester League First Division clash at AFC Bury on Saturday had to be abandoned with just half-an-hour played after talented young winger Saul Ashworth suffered a sickening injury.
Eighteen-year-old Ashworth, who was due to start at university in a fortnight’s time, broke and dislocated his ankle following a challenge which saw his Bury opponent sent off.
Ashworth, who has been with Hollinwood since the age of 15, spent Saturday night in North Manchester General Hospital and underwent successful surgery on Sunday.
Uppermill went down 3-1 at Chapel Town, but in the Third Division there were better fortunes as their reserve team crushed Heywood St James 5-1.
Premier Division action saw Dukinfield Town and AVRO share eight goals in a thrilling clash, while Royton Town did likewise when entertaining Hindsford.
Springhead were good value for their 2-0 home victory against AFC Monton.
