CRICKET: ROYTON will have their fingers crossed that the downpours forecast for Sunday fail to materialise.
Should play on the final day of the Lake Garage CLL season be washed out, Denny Hulme’s men will not have the chance of winning the league. A washout would hand the honour to Matt Taylor’s Werneth, who hold the advantage after their win and Royton’s home defeat last weekend.
If the forecasters are wrong, Oldham will host Werneth at the Pollards.
Rashid Hussain’s men will finish bottom whatever happens this weekend, but they will be keen to finish on a high note.
Royton are due to take on Crompton in the division’s other derby on the final day. The latter, captained for the final time by Carl Taylor, can finish third if they secure maximum points and Unsworth slip up at home to Radcliffe.
