Trio bid for glory

BOWLS: SPRINGBANK had three representatives in the last 32 of the Waterloo Bowling Handicap today.
Andrew Buckley, who also plays for Nimble Nook, Paul Heap and Matt O’Neill each won their last-64 matches on Saturday.
Buckley defeated Sheffield's Andy Mailer 21-13, Heap beat Stafford's Gordon Hawkins 21-16 and O'Neill blitzed Warrington's Bill Burlinson 21-6.
But a fourth Springbank player, Martin Hodson, went out, 21-8 at the hands of Huddersfield rising star Josh Mordue.
Tonge's Jimmy Derby saw off Liverpool's Keith Williams 21-8, while former Royton player Mike Holden defeated Salford's John Grace 21-19. Waterloo and Taunton's Lee Turner succumbed 21-9 to
tournament favourite Simon Coupe (Preston). Play was continuing today from 10am.
