Hollinwood up and running
Date published: 20 September 2013
FOOTBALL: FBT Manchester League action was a little thin on the ground, though Hollinwood bagged their
welcome first Division One win of the season as they edged out Beechfield United 1-0 in a close-fought clash.
In the same division Chadderton’s second string were thumped 6-0 at Chapel Town, but Uppermill secured a 2-1 victory when hosting Breightmet United.
Uppermill host fellow mid-table outfit Irlam Steel tomorrow, but Hollinwood are without a game.
Royton Town were in Lancashire Amateur Shield action as they crushed Tempest United 6-2 (see Match of the Day), while fellow Premier Division sides Avro and Springhead were inactive.
Tomorrow, Town head to AFC Monton for an 11th-placed versus ninth clash.
Avro, who have started the 2013-14 season superbly with three wins and three draws in their six games, will be confident of extending their unbeaten run when they head to struggling Rochdale Sacred Heart.
Springhead have enjoyed a decent start to the season as they have lost only once in six games.
They head to Walshaw Sports tomorrow – a side one place above Springhead in the table.
