Non-league football: PETER Band is hoping Mossley’s luck is finally changing following their midweek 4-3 Doodson Cup preliminary round win against Padiham.
That was the Lilywhites’ first win in any competition this season, but league points remain the priority —and Mossley could do with a first win tomorrow against Ramsbottom United.
Joint Mossley boss Band, who took over from Steve Halford in the summer with Lloyd Morrison, said: “It’s been a tough start undoubtedly, we even had to come from two goals down on Tuesday against Padiham.
“But hopefully we can build on that.”
The team has some issues: midfielder Kyle McGonigle has been slapped with a seven-game suspension; injured striker Sam Madeley is out for six weeks with a knee injury, and defenders Ryan Marley and Charlie Anderson are doubtful .
CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO are both on FA Carlsberg Vase second qualifying round duty tomorrow, against clubs from the Vodkat North-West Counties League top flight.
Chadderton, who have started the season well, travel to Alsager Town.
Dave Glynn is Chadderton’s only definite absentee tomorrow as he continues to recover from a neck injury sustained in a recent car accident.
Boro host Congleton Town at their Atherton base, and will be determined to bounce back from the midweek 5-1 Manchester Premier Cup thrashing at Glossop.
