DARTS:
OLDHAM town team captain Paul Cartwright nailed a dream nine-dart finish at a tournament qualifier in Chorlton.
Cartwright, from Fitton Hill, produced his perfect leg of darts on his way to qualification for the national finals of the Riley’s Masters tournament.
Cartwright said: “I’ve thrown nine-darters during practice quite a few times, but I’ve never done it in competition.
“It was a terrific feeling to get the nine-darter, but to be honest the wheels fell off a bit after that and I lost the match.
“Just reaching the final meant I had already qualified for the nationals though, so it was already a case of job done.”
The Riley’s Masters finals are in November in Wolverhampton, where £3,000 is up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Paul won’t forget his nine-dart finish in a hurry — he was given a new dartboard by Riley’s in Chorlton, signed by fellow players and everyone who witnessed the throw.
