Fitton Hill 5, Crompton House Old Boys 1
FITTON Hill manager Tony Marsden reckons his side has what it takes to win the Midas Plumbing and Heating Supplies Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division title.
Thirty-two-year-old Marsden, one of the youngest managers in the league said: “We’ve got a good team here with good players. I want to do with Fitton Hill what I have experienced in the past.
The match featured two brothers on opposing sides, both of whom got on the score sheet.
While Chris Ollerton netted the Old Boys’ consolation goal in the second half, brother Richard bagged Hill’s third to put the game beyond doubt.
Aaron Murdock’s spectacular strikes – one in each half – provided the game’s highlights.
Marsden added: “We played the better football in every aspect and we looked very promising as a unit.”
Old Boys’ defender Scott Rowbottom said: “They deserved it, we just weren’t at the races.”
