GERALD Forde was Chadderton’s derby hero as he scored twice on his debut in a 2-1 North-West Counties League Challenge Cup first-round victory against Oldham Boro at Broadway.
Forde signed for Chadderton only at the end of last week, and his 27th-minute strike ensured the hosts went in at the interval a goal to the good.
Tony Mills’ battling Boro hit back level through Damien Schofield midway through the second period, only for new boy Forde to crack home the winner with seven minutes to go.
Chadderton joint-manager Mark Cook said: “He is a clinical striker for our level and he is only 20.”
Chadderton earned themselves a second-round home tie against Premier Division Ashton Athletic, to be played on Saturday, October 26.
MOSSLEY were without a fixture at the weekend.
They are next in Evo-Stik Division One North action on Saturday when they host New Mills.
