Non-league football: PETER Band is hoping recent momentum will remain with his Mossley side when they return to action after an 11-day break tomorrow.

After a shaky start, 10th-place Lilywhites have won their last five games and scored 17 goals.

Tomorrow they welcome mid-table rivals New Mills to Seel Park for an Evo-Stik Division One North clash.

The Millers have been inconsistent under Roy Soule this season. They have had some eye-catching wins but some heavy defeats too. Last weekend they were thumped 6-0 at Lancaster City in the FA Trophy.

He added: “You can’t tell with New Mills this season. They’ve had some big wins so we must be on our guard. They might make six or seven changes for tomorrow, and of course the manager will be after a big response.”

Mossley centre-back Ryan Marley is unavailable, and the team will soon talented right-back Sam Halligan, who is to live in Australia for a period.

CHADDERTON will be hoping to take advantage of the hosts’ poor run of form as they head to Widnes Vikings in the North-West Counties League First Division.

After a super start the Vikings have now dropped to eighth in the table – one ahead of Chadderton – following a run of six games without a win. They have lost their last three.

Chadderton will be missing striker Niall Sultan, Dave Quinn and Ben Greenidge.

OLDHAM BORO could do with arresting a worrying dip in form, but a tough task awaits away at fifth-placed Irlam tomorrow. Tony Mills’ side hasn’t won a league game since August 27.
