FENCING: THE popularity of fencing since London 2012 has increased markedly, so 2010 Commonwealth gold-medallist Stuart Marshall has opened a new club in Chadderton.
Marshall has years of international fencing experience at cadet, junior and senior European and World championship levels.
Now a full-time coach, Marshall’s rising stars include Emily Rigby (15), who has been selected for the under-17 national team.
Emily is current 12th in the Great Britain rankings and will head for France this weekend to compete in an international tournament. She said: “This is a great opportunity to compete with the best in the world. It will be great experience for me.”
