Cup woe for Hulmeians

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Hulmeians were knocked out in the second round of the Lancashire Amateur League Cup 2-1 at Premier Division side Little Lever.
Jason Hill went close three times early on, then Ant Williams saw a point-blank header superbly saved.
The home side took the lead against the run of play after half-an-hour.
Danny Wooliscroft uncharacteristically gave the ball away in midfield, allowing a Lever striker to run through and beat goalkeeper Matt Wheelton comfortably.
Oldham equalised just after the restart when Hill’s cross into the danger zone caused panic in the home defence and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
The hosts scored the winner when a controversial free-kick given against Danny Pauley on the edge of the Hulmeians box was headed home by a Little Lever midfielder.
