Goalless stalemate as Alts park the bus at Springhead
Date published: 18 October 2013
SPRINGHEAD are fast becoming the draw specialists of the FBT Manchester Premier Division as they were held to a goalless stalemate at home against Old Alts.
Not for the first time this season, the local side missed a host of chances, while goalkeeper Brandon Adams was practically redundant throughout the 90 minutes.
A combination of poor finishing and inspired goalkeeping kept ’Head at bay as Nathan Eastmond, Leighton Stephenson and Mark Hopwood were all thwarted.
Springhead produced some of their best football of the season, but lacked a clinical edge which they need to improve on if they are to mount a serious challenge this season.
There were no such problems in front of goal for Royton Town.
They elevated themselves into eighth place in the top-flight table thanks to a superb 6-2 home win against AFC Monton.
Avro made progress in the Manchester FA Challenge Trophy after they won 3-1 at Heywood St James, while Division one action saw Uppermill edged out by the odd goal in five against Chapel Town.
