Ronnie Heffron: title bid
Boxing: COOL Ronnie Heffron believes he has enough firepower to become the WBO European light-middleweight champion in Liverpool in December.
Heffron (23) will fight for the vacant crown with unbeaten Merseyside prospect Joe Selkirk.
The Oldham ace has no fear - despite doing battle in the 28 year old’s back yard, the Echo Arena.
Heffron said: “Promoter Frank Warren told me he had sorted the fight and I was buzzing – I’m really looking forward to getting in there now.
“It’s a good fight and lots of people are talking about it already, but I’m confident I can go there and win. Selkirk is really strong and can punch, but there are slight weaknesses I can exploit, so bring it on.”
Former ABA champion Heffron has long been tipped to enjoy a hugely-successful professional career.
Heffron, who boasts 14 wins in 15 fights, appears determined with almost two months of preparation time.
