Avro march on at the top

FOOTBALL: AVRO continue to set the pace in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division.

The Failsworth outfit are top of the table on goal difference following a hard-fought 2-1 victory at home against Rochdale Sacred Heart.

Elsewhere in the top flight, mid-table Royton Town prevailed 4-1 when welcoming Wythenshawe Town, while Springhead lost 5-4 in a thriller at home to Prestwich Heys (see Match of the Day).

Division One action saw Hollinwood beaten by the odd goal in seven against Irlam Steel, and Uppermill were undone by the odd goal in five at home to Atherton Town.
