Fir enough for Taylor

ANGLING: CHADDERTON’S Martin Taylor took first place in the Todmorden AS open match at Firgrove.
He fished bread punch at just seven metres to catch some roach which together weighed 4lb 2oz.
That beat organiser Frank Szakaley (2lb 8oz) and Dave Balmforth (2lb 6oz).
The same club’s pairs match fished on Croft and Townhouse was won by Chris Lett and Mick Clegg with 35lb 5oz of carp and 32lb 12oz of carp respectively. Second were Graham Mallinson (18lb) and Adam Kitson (11lb 14oz), ahead of John Mellor (31lb 13oz) and Pete Eastwood (6lb 11oz).
KEN Power and his travelling partner Dave Holland (both Tri-Cast Highfield) remain a formidable
force. Old Hough Farm is one of their favoured waters and in the open match fished on Prospect Lake they managed another one-two.
Power took the plaudits with his 16-metre pole, pellet and corn approach working to good effect, netting him plenty of barbel and carp, as well as the odd chub and ide which together tipped the scales at 31lb 3oz.
Holland fished an almost identical match to the winner, scooping 30lb 13oz.
Holland’s incredible season continued with a win in the open match on Old Hough Farm’s Big Max Lake where he took an all-carp catch of 63lb 2oz which fell to 4mm pellets and corn fished long.
Bob Asher was second, starting on the method feeder and later switching to nine-metre pole and chopped worm and caster for 57lb 2oz of carp.
MICK Risby fished the tip and worm from peg 23 to catch 21lb 6oz of bream, chub and roach for victory in the latest Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake.
Runner-up Peter Hill again drew the favoured peg eight where he fished the pole, maggot and caster at around 13 metres, catching skimmers, chub and perch before a late switch to the tip brought him a run of fish for a level 21lb.
THE Northern Anglers AA open match on the Miners Arms length of the Macclesfield Canal at Poynton was fished in gale-force winds which limited pole length.
Ged Martin (Tri-Cast Highfield) was not compromised, though, as worm fished down the track for some good perch and squatt for some silvers added up to a winning catch of 7lb 14oz.
Dave Holland was again in the frame, catching a few big perch in his net of 5lb 12oz.
