Secretary calls for commitment after no-show

HOLLINWOOD need players who are committed to the cause after they had to concede their Pennine League clash at Sherburn Bears.
Despite a full quota of 30 signed up, only seven men were available for the trip to Wakefield, which left secretary Fred Halliwell with no choice but to call off the game.
Halliwell (pictured) said: “We want players who are willing to train twice a week, an hour each time, and are ready to play for 80 minutes on a Saturday.
“That’s all we’re asking for.
“This is the first time we’ve ducked this year and we don’t want it to happen again.”
The club have been fined £25 and deducted two points for failing to fulfil the fixture against the team who are second in Division Five.
It also means Hollinwood will have to forfeit home advantage in the return match later in the season, and instead head to West Yorkshire.
The Fields New Road side have won two of their eight games so far in the league and are fourth from bottom.
If anyone is interested in playing for Hollinwood, call Fred on 07786 468833.
