FBT Manchester League top flight outfit Springhead progressed to the third round of the West Riding County FA Cup as they beat West Yorkshire League side Aberford Albion 2-1.
Head controlled the game from start to finish, creating numerous chances.
They went in front after 20 minutes when the Aberford goalkeeper spilled the ball at Leighton Stephenson’s feet, and he tapped home from close range.
’Head were made to pay for missed chances as Aberford equalised just before half time with a neat finish from their forward.
The second half continued in the same vein with ’Head doing everything bar finishing off their opponents.
Their winner eventually came with only 10 minutes left when Owen Minnock’s cross was headed home by sub Richard Bennett.
Springhead’s reserves also made progress in the WRFA Challenge Trophy, but only on penalties after a 2-2 draw at East End Park WMC.
