Goal rush pleases Band

MOSSLEY’S joint-boss Peter Band is hoping this season’s Seel Park goal rush will continue tomorrow when stuttering Cammell Laird roll into town.

The Lilywhites got their 2013-14 Evo-Stik Division One North campaign off to a dismal start after Band and Lloyd Morrison took over from Steve Halford, who jumped ship to join Ashton United.

However, fortunes have turned in the last two months and Mossley – who have scored 32 goals in just 12 Seel Park games this term – now sit comfortably in mid-table.

Band said: “Considering all the upheaval we went through early in the season, the lads have rallied brilliantly.

“Lloyd and I hardly had a squad to work with when we took over, but gradually the lads are gelling and we are getting there now.

“We’ve been in great form at home, so I’m hoping some new fans – and even sponsors – will get down to see us.

“Another few quick wins could see us start looking at the top eight, and that would be a great achievement given the start we had.”

Band and Morrison have injures and suspensions to contend with ahead of tomorrow’s game.

Charlie Anderson – whose promotion at work meant he opted to turn his back on a move to Skrill Conference Premier side Chester – is suspended, while Lewis Nightingale, Sam Hind and Louis Horne all face late fitness tests. James Blair and Wayne Welbeck will definitely miss out through injury.
