Mossley ease to victory

MOSSLEY eased to a 2-0 home Evo-Stik Division One North victory against Cammell Laird at a wet and windswept Seel Park.
The three points lifted the Lilywhites into 11th place in the table, after both goals came in the final five minutes of the first half.
Luke McCarthy opened the scoring in the 41st minute, before Tom Pratt struck to make it 2-0.
Mossley return to knock-out action tomorrow as they entertain Premier Division AFC Fylde in the first round of the Doodson Cup (7.45pm kick-off).
Meanwhile, Mossley midfielder Ryan Hopper has moved to New Mills as he goes in search of more first-team football.
Hopper had made a total of 33 appearances for the Lilywhites.
CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO both failed to score in the North-West Counties League First Division.
Chadderton faired the better, however, as they picked up a point following a goalless draw at Ashton Town.
Joint-manager Mark Cook said: “We were unlucky not to take the three points.
“We hit the crossbar twice and missed quite a few other chances.
“It was one of those days when the ball just wouldn’t fall for us.”
Boro were beaten 2-0 by Cheadle Town. Paul Walley and Ben Connolly bagged a goal in each half at Park Road.
Chadderton are back in league action tomorrow as they travel to take on neighbours Rochdale Town (7.45pm kick-off).
