OLDHAM’S North-West League team enjoyed a 74-24 victory over Leyland.
As Oldham had an under-16s fixture earlier in the day, there was an opportunity for some of the North-West performers to play alongside Premier stars Alice Travis, Helen Housby and Kerry Almond.
It was also pleasing to have Bryony Rhodes in the squad for the first time and she started at wing attack.
Oldham led 20-5 after the first quarter following great feeds into the circle for Travis and Amy Neild.
Housby and Charlotte Spence were introduced in the second quarter and Oldham played some fast, sharp netball.
The defenders were working well together and were getting touches and interceptions, especially Gabrielle Marshall, as Oldham established a powerful 36-15 advantage.
In the third quarter, which Oldham ended 57-20 in front, Almond was a rock at the back while Gemma McDermott was working well with the Superleague player.
Oldham’s domination continued in the final quarter and it was Marshall who was voted player of the match for her tremendous defensive contribution.
Oldham: GS Alice Travis; GA Amy Neild; WA Bryony Rhodes; C Gabrielle Marshall; WD Rachel Taylor; GD Gemma McDermott; GK Amber Hazelton.
Bench : Helen Housby, Kerry Almond, Ebbie Danson-Chappell, Charlotte Spence.
