Band urges respect for strugglers

THERE will be no complacency from Mossley tomorrow when they head to Evo-Stik Division One North strugglers Padiham.

The Lilywhites themselves endured a slow start to the 2013-14 campaign, but a run of improved form means they are now sitting comfortably in the top half of the table.

Padiham languish in 17th place, but Mossley joint-manager Peter Band is urging a certain amount of caution. He said: "Every game has been difficult this season.

"The division has lots of good teams in it, and from what I've seen so far, everyone is capable of beating one another on their day.

POSITIVE

"Padiham might be near the bottom, but they drew at Curzon Ashton recently so that says a lot.

"We just have to keep going, stay solid, and hopefully we've got enough to get a positive result there.

"We've certainly got goals in us."

The Lilywhites will hope to bounce back from Tuesday's 2-0 Doodson Cup defeat against Premier Division AFC Fylde Ð the first time the hosts hadn't scored at Seel Park this season.

Phil Drummond is suspended and Sam Hind and James Blair are injured, but Charlie Anderson will be fit despite limping out of Tuesday's cup game with an ankle knock.

CHADDERTON will just be "going for it" when they host high-flying Atherton Collieries in the North-West Counties League First Division.

The Broadway outfit were thumped 6-2 at Rochdale Town on Tuesday, and joint-manager Mark Cook is after a response as the team go in search of a first league win since September 7 - eight games ago.

Cook said: "We've tried a few different formations lately, but we're still leaking far too many goals. "We'll just be going for it tomorrow - it's going to be the old Kevin Keegan approach for us."

Cook and fellow boss Steve Patterson have a full-strength squad from which to choose.

OLDHAM BORO could do with a victory fillip after picking up only one point from their last four games.

They face a tough task, however, as they host fourth-placed 1874 Northwich.
