COLDHURST ‘B’ claimed club bragging rights in Division Three of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League — but they were pushed all the way by their ‘C’ team.
The score was 6-4 in the ‘B’ side’s favour, thanks to doubles from Wills, Brown and England. Bollard was undefeated for the ‘C’ team.
Werneth ‘E’ endured mixed fortunes, losing 8-2 against Coldhurst ‘A’ before overcoming Gilders 7-3.
Honeywell ‘E’ slumped to a 9-1 defeat against high-fliers Hollinwood ‘D’, for whom Hutchinson and Jefferson were in red-hot form.
Just one match was resolved over three sets as Hollinwood ‘E’ picked themselves up to beat Werneth ‘C’ 7-3. Balakrishnan and Rourke won three each.
Unison ‘B’ were 7-3 winners against Werneth ‘D’. Huskinson, for the former, was the only undefeated player.
