OLDHAM’S under-14s produced their best performance of the season as they beat Aspull 21-10.
The visitors registered the first try, but Oldham responded well when Michael Rigby made a good run and placed the ball under the posts.
Rob Charles converted to put Oldham 7-5 in front.
The second-half saw Oldham driving forward at every opportunity. A penalty was awarded, and the hosts made good use of the ball.
This resulted in Rigby scoring his second try under the posts. Charles again converted the kick to stretch Oldham’s lead to 14-5.
Aspull then broke through to score a second try, but missed the kick.
Aspull were eyeing a chance to get back into the match, but with some super tackles, especially from Oscar Cheetham and Josh Jones-Dean, Oldham held firm.
In the dying minutes, Charles saw a gap in the opposition defence and took advantage to score a final try.
The whistle sounded soon after the same player put the ball through the posts.
