OLDHAM under-15s are out of the Greater Manchester Schools’ County Cup after suffering a 5-2 reverse against Bolton in their preliminary round clash at Sharples School.
The local lads suffered an early setback when Jack Foster opened the scoring for Bolton, before Alex Culston doubled his side’s tally soon after.
Lewis Haydock added a third, before Culston grabbed his second of the game to earn Bolton a convincing 4-0 advantage at the break.
Oldham hit back at the start of the second-half to reduce the arrears through Jack Fidler (Blue Coat), but Bolton restored their four-goal cushion with a second strike from Foster midway through the second period.
Elliott Murray (Failsworth) grabbed a late consolation strike for the local youngsters to make the scoreline a little more respectable, but Oldham, who crashed out of the national ESFA Inter-Association Trophy with a 5-0 defeat against Sefton last month, will be disappointed with their last couple of performances.
Elsewhere, Oasis Academy failed to make it through to the fifth round of the ESFA Under-14 Play Station Schools’ Cup after going down 3-1 to Childwall Sports and Science Academy (Liverpool).
Sankah was on target for the local lads in the first half as the sides went in level at 1-1 at the break, before the Merseysiders added another couple to their tally after the restart to sink the disappointed Oasis youngsters.
