FOOTBALL:
HEYSIDE exited the Manchester FA Amateur Cup after going down 4-2 at Beechfield United.
A sluggish start saw Heyside fall 2-0 behind after just 20 minutes.
But the visitors reduced the arrears with a Carl Taylor strike just before the interval.
Although Heyside went on to equalise midway through the second period thanks to a Matthew Crothers effort, poor defending allowed Beechfield to swiftly regain the lead.
The visitors were chasing the game and conceded a fourth goal on the break with just five minutes remaining.
Heyside’s second string were knocked out of the Manchester County FA Cup, 4-3 by Manchester Medics.
Diggle and Uppermill both enjoyed satisfactory wins in Huddersfield League Division One.
Diggle beat Heywood Irish 3-0, while Uppermill’s third team were in mean mood as they triumped 7-0 at Lepton Highlanders.
On target were S Thistleton (two), O Bushrana (two), J Norris, C Neild and R Stanley.
