League stunned as top-flight pair quit

FOOTBALL:
THE Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League has been rocked by the resignations of both Legends Athletic and Famous King George from the Jack Abbott Premier Division.
This leaves the league’s top flight with only seven teams and a drastically altered look.
League Chairman Jack Bamford said: “Both clubs tendered their resignations this week and there is genuine regret in their notifications. The worry is that the resignations are from clubs in the Premier Division.
“It might well be that some players from the departed clubs go on to sign for other clubs in the league and add to their strength. Just seven clubs in the top division obviously now means a limited number of games, so it could well be that we look at teams in that division playing each other three times.”
