Will Cawley: national finals date
Boxing:
TEENAGE ace Will Cawley was in sublime form when he beat a current British champion at Durham’s Sherburn Leisure Centre.
The victory booked his place at the National Junior Ambition finals next week.
Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre starlet Cawley (16) made it through to the finals after beating Niall Farrell from the renowned Second City Boxing Club in Birmingham.
Farrell, who was favourite to win the 48kg class, had recently returned from the World Championships, but a blistering early display of power-punching and slick movement from Cawley put the local fighter on top.
Cawley is now preparing for the final next Thursday in Newcastle, against Nathan Brown, who hails from the Hooks Amateur Boxing Club in London.
