MOSSLEY lost an amazing Evo-Stik Division One North clash at Kendal Town that featured 11 goals and a third sending-off of the season for defender Kyle McGonigle.
Kendal’s Danny Mitchley scored the first of his hat-trick after just two minutes at Parkside Road, but Richard Bennett soon levelled for the Lilywhites.
Goals from Sefton Gonzalez and Mitchley put the hosts 3-1 up at the interval. Mitchley’s third goal fired Kendal three clear in the 50th minute, but incredibly the gutsy Lilywhites rallied and two goals from Charlie Anderson and another from Richard Bennett eight minutes from time took the score to 4-4.
It looked like Mossley would retain a point, but in extra time Kendal’s Rob Wilson scored from the penalty spot and sub Zach Clark pounced to make it 6-4.
And there was still time for Andy Keogh to score another for the Lilywhites, who ran out of time at 6-5. The result dropped Mossley into 12th place in the table.
They next play on Saturday when they host Padiham in the league.
IT was a much better weekend for CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO in the North-West Counties League First Division.
Chaddy cruised to a 4-1 home victory against Eccleshall, a result which lifted them to 11th place in the table.
Matty Russell scored twice, while Gerald Forde and Sean Sherwood wrapped up a well-deserved win.
Boro prevailed 1-0 at rock-bottom Northwich Flixton Villa thanks to Reece Hardie's second-half strike.
Chaddy and Boro return to action next weekend.
