STUTTERING Mossley slipped to their fourth straight Evo-Stik Division One North defeat on Saturday, this time at home against struggling Padiham.
The Lilywhites have fallen to 15th place in the table following Kieron Pickup’s goal 11 minutes from time, the only goal of the game.
The match was in complete contrast to the game last weekend - in which Mossley lost by the odd goal of 11 at Kendal Town.
Joint managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison now face the tough task of rallying the Mossley troops as they prepare for next weekend’s daunting trip to second-placed Farsley.
THERE were no such worries for rampant Chadderton in the North-West Counties League First Division.
They mirrored the efforts of Premier League giants Manchester City as they crushed rock-bottom Northwich Flixton Villa 6-3 at Broadway.
In an amazing game, Chaddy were 3-1 up after 15 minutes as Danny Hudson, Josh Lynch and Ben Fletcher had all registered for the hosts, Gareth Grant replying for Villa.
Chaddy then found themselves pegged back to 3-3 as Callum McGlynn and Shaun Williams scored either side of the hour mark for Villa.
A dramatic final few minutes followed, with Clive Best (two) and a Matty Russell penalty ensuring the hosts deservedly secured the three points.
That was Chaddy's third win in their last four games, during which they have scored 13 goals.
Tony Mills’ Oldham Boro lost 2-0 at home against Rochdale Town as Kristian Evans and Jason Hill were on target.
